OUR PILOT SITES
In HYBRIS this applications will be deployed in 3 scenarios represented by 3 high-impact high-replication potential pilot sites in 3 different countries for each use case applications and representative business models.
- Application Level 1: will explore individually the Residential and Commercial and Industrial. These cases will be in the range of 50-200kW.
- Application level 2: will explore the use aggregated distributed energy resources in local microgrid. These cases will be in the range of microgrid scale up to 5MW.
- Application level 3: will enable the potential replication.
Italy
- Location: MESSINA, ITALY
- Partners: SOLIDARITY AND ENERGY SPA - SAE
- Building Type: Residential, neighborhood services
- Number of businesses involved: One foundation, two social cooperatives and 1 ESCO
- Potential Outreach: Capacity program and civic network (30 entities), other national and international partners in the REVES network. More than 100 photovoltaic plants in Sicily island (about 1 MW total power)
- Use Case Application: Local residential energy community integrated in island grid
- Local RES generation: Currently, the system installed on buildings includes a production from a solar source for a peak of 16.24 kW, potentially expandable with the future construction of a neighborhood energy community
- Total RES Share: About 1 MW in Sicily island, considering the PV plants where the ESCo is the owner
- Energy Storage Available on site: Lithium Iron Phospate centralized battery system. 20kWp/40kWh
- Electrical Vehicle Facilities:At the moment no system is installed, but expansion possible with a charging column for two vehicles
- BMS/EMS in place: The system is completely managed by Solidarity and Energy in all phases, from production to accumulation, distribution and invoicing. BMS of the battery system is coordinated with EMS to control the charging and discharging, the billing for the customers and to manage the loads accordingly to social, economic and environmental criteria.
- Smart metering in place: Thermal comfort in-building sensors (atmospheric particulate matter, temperature, humidity), smart meters for energy consumption for each customer and for each PV plant; external weather station with: rain gauge, radiation, anemometer, temperature and humidity.
- Energy service under contract: The system can apply a different tariff depending on the priorities and will adjust the maximum power set points available for each user, proportionally to the needs due to the user's inconvenience. The system, informing users and, in turn, being dynamically informed by users on the needs that may change over time, can work in real time, always ensuring a minimum power threshold available to all, but giving priority to the most disadvantaged users.
Netherlands
- Location: THOLEN, NETHERLANDS
- Partners: ILECO, 4YEF
- Building Type: Small factory
- Number of businesses involved: One
- Potential Outreach: Small factory energy optimization and future LEC possibility.
- Use Case Application: Deployment of energy services within a SME factory.
- Local RES generation: 275,52 kWp solar on the site (installation planned for early 2024).
- Total RES Share: TBD based on the final simulations and EMS.
- Energy Storage Available on site: No storage currently available on site (virtual HESS to be provided).
- Electrical Vehicle Facilities: There will be 1 EV charger installed before summer 2023 – 22 kW – cloud controllable.
- BMS/EMS in place: ILECO will be in charge of the battery management system of the virtual HESS.
- Smart metering in place: Smart meters read out at a sample rate of 1 min: PV production, grid import & export and EV charging stations.
- Energy service under contract: Currently typical basic/fixed energy contracts will evolve towards a fixed monthly service fee with penalties/incentives to de-incentivize/incentivize certain behavior and engagement and overall sustainable business park goals “Advanced Green Energy Service” as a new form of energy service offered by 4YEF will include optimal HESS control.
Belgium
- Location: BRASSCHAAT, BELGIUM
- Partners: Quares, ILECO
- Building Type: SME: Office/warehouse/other
- Number of businesses involved: One SME business park with about 50 SMEs now and evolutions
- Potential Outreach: In total approx. 10-50 SME business parcs across Belgium
- Use Case Application: Development of new flexibility services under EaaS model for C&I business park with high solar penetration
- Local RES generation: Within the current Quares park management only abouit 130kWp in scope on different roofs, but if the new energy community approach will be supported by all participants 100’s of extra existing kWp can be added + other 100’s kWp of new installations on rooftops of the business buildings
- Total RES Share: TBD based on the final consumption pattern of the business parks
- Energy Storage Available on site: N/A
- Electrical Vehicle Facilities: There are 2 EV charging stations that will be included in the first stage. The businesses involved are planning to install several additional EV charging stations over the next years which will also be managed by the EMS.
- BMS/EMS in place: EMS platform operated by ILECO with a cloud-connection to local gateways for control interfacing to all controllable devices (solar inverter, heat pump, ventilation, battery) and cloud interface for the EV charge control.
- Smart metering in place: For the Acta Building, smart metering is in place, but extra communication equipment will need to be installed. For Pronails, a new smart meter and associated communication devices will be installed.
- Energy service under contract: Current typical basic/fixed energy contracts will evolve towards a fixed monthly service fee with penalties/incentives to de-incentivise /incentivise certain behavior and engagement and overall sustainable business parc goals “Advanced Parc Energy Service” as a new form of energy service offered by Quares will include the mobility hub with an optimal HESS control for the above mentioned stacked energy services.
