D2.1 High-Level Concept of the Hybrid Energy Storage and the Requirements of Each Technology
The purpose of this deliverable in short is to define the dimensions of the storing hybrid system that will be built and used in the pilot sites. A brief description of both systems will be presented: basic concepts of the different chemistries involved (LTO and AORFB), electrical coupling that will be used as well as the components that will be delivered for HESS construction. The prototype architecture here presented has been defined & designed after long discussion between all partners involved in prototype construction and field use. The solution found is meant to satisfy at best pilot needs within dimension system limitations. Different possible system dimensions and coupling architectures are discussed, pros and cons are exposed, and a final HESS prototype is defined. This prototype remains flexible for further innovation coming from other work packages. Moreover, it has been decided that the HESS must be movable so it will be constructed in a container. First dimensions of this containerization are presented.
This document is mainly addressed to the partners of the Hybris project, in order to expose useful information for the HESS capabilities. Then, every reader interested in battery technologies and prototype design & characteristics can receive a deepening about lithium titanate oxide, organic redox flow batteries & specific dimension of the present HESS prototype.
